Here’s a quickly built windbreak with thrie-beam 20 inch wide guardrail panel.
Great job putting this feed line together in such a way that it could be easily accessed.
Some owners choose to weld the W-beam into the 5.5” pockets of the I-beam. This shows how it can be done in many different ways.
Super versatile material – gate meets guardrail fence meets post.

Owners most often will lap the guardrail, but sometimes they will butt the ends of the panel together if there’s enough weld-able real estate available on the post… This idea often works out on our W6x9 pound/ft posts, with an ample flange.
We’ve heard folks say that their cattle might try to ram the guardrail – but after they tangle with guardrail ONE time. After that, the cow doesn’t try again.
A huge amount of fence power at this intersection. A great way to section off pasture into smaller pens.
The stout guardrail posts hold up the panel… and the panel links the entire fence system together with three powerful corrugated rows.
Great visual of how to intersect two lines of used guardrail joining at an angle. What a great place to locate a gate at the same point, as the stress of the corral hinge point could be carried by the used highway guardrail very easily.
Here’s a 4-rows high fence, which is better for keeping in calves – see how the latch chain works on the guardrail panel.

We had a neighbor who used five panel high on an 8 inch I-beam.
Clean posts, solid fence wall, very strong – this thing will last on and on.
Used guardrail works great in long span runs – put it up and its there for a LONG, long time. One fella even told us that he puts his posts 25 feet apart – and that he’s never had a problem with it!
High corral walls help keep jumpy cattle where they should be.
One way to keep your feed barn and handling areas from being constantly torn up or pushed against is to put one or more rows of guardrail along the sides wherever the cattle travel – this is a one time fix.
Lots of farmers-ranchers-feeders-cattle handlers use guardrail to keep their feeding area from being torn up by the bobbing heads of the cattle while they feed.

The rounded face of the panel is a great fence-to-animal contact point and gives plenty of surface area on the back side where a one can weld or bolt to it.
Builders can make all kinds of angled turns with W-beam guardrail – make the turn and WELD it!
